I'm leavin on a jet plane...

Yep, that's right...I will be out of commission for a few days!
Tomorrow me and the hubby fly out to Las Vegas, to see one of my all time favorite performers....

The one and only.....Sir Elton John performing his show The Red Piano at Caesars Place. Woop woop!! I can't wait...he is one of the performers that is on my list of people to see before I die. My hubby isn't as excited as I am..so I am kinda dragging him with me...unless my daughter can get off of work that night and go with me. She would love to see him also, but she has to work on weekends, that is when she makes the most money.
Then my hubby is flying back home on Sunday (yeah..yeah...someone has to work) and I will stay there with our daughter (who lives there) and she and I are driving to LA on Monday to meet my oldest daughter and my sister...where we have tickets on Tuesday for.....

You got it.....The Price is Right with Drew Carey!
My oldest daughter's birthday is on Tuesday and this is how she wanted to celebrate. We are going to have a great time and hopefully one of us will be picked to go on stage. We went back in April, but my eldest daughter didn't get to go...so she is really excited.
I will be taking my laptop and camera with me...so maybe I can keep you posted. If not...we will have some catching up to do when I get home!!

Can't you take NO for an answer!!??!

The other night when I was enjoying the peace and quiet of my home, my phone rang and caller ID showed that it was an unknown number. Of course I should have known better, this is the time when telemarketers are on the prowl.

Let me share the jest of the conversation with you ~~

Me: Hello?
Caller: Hi, I am just calling to confirm that you will be voting yes on Proposition 8?
Me: Uh, no...I am voting NO on it...(how dare he make an assumption!)
Caller: You're voting no?? (with that "are you sure about that" tone)
Me: Yes...I am voting no...I believe in equality for everyone, same sex or not.
Caller: Are you aware that they can then teach your children in school that same sex marriage is okay?
Me: We live in California....hello??? Why would anyone want to shelter their children from the fact that two loving adult human beings can now be married to each other and give each other the same legal rights that us "heterosexual" couples enjoy?
(I am sure about this time he was thinking...wow, I didn't expect this..)
Caller: But do you want your children or grandchildren to be taught that in school?
Me: My children were taught that...by me in my home. And I know that my grandchildren will be taught the same. We have friends who are gay, even family members that are....for heaven sakes if the kids are hearing this for the first time in school, then the parents need some education.
Caller: But, but, but....
Me: Goodbye!

I know that alot of people are not facing Proposition 8 on their ballots. But in California we are....and unfortunately is has become a heated debate with viscous commercials being shown on television.

Just to set a few facts straight...here are some of the declarations and the facts:

Fiction: Prop 8 doesn’t discriminate against gay people.

Fact: Prop 8 is simple: it eliminates the rights for same-sex couples to marry. Prop 8 would deny equal protections and write discrimination against one group of people—lesbian and gay people—into our state constitution.

Fiction: Teaching children about same-sex marriage will happen here unless we pass Prop 8.

Fact: Not one word in Prop 8 mentions education. And no child can be forced, against the will of their parents, to be taught anything about health and family issues at school. California law prohibits it.

California’s top educators including Superintendent of Schools Jack O’Connell and California Teachers all agree: Prop 8 has nothing to do with education.

Proposition 8 would eliminate fundamental rights for a group of Californians. It’s unfair and it’s wrong.

I'm sorry but I am a true believer in love and happiness. Life is too short to rob that gift from so many. And I cannot believe that my God or any God would take that away from anyone. Here in California we have come so much further than other places in allowing gay couples rights. As goofy as we might be to everyone else in the country...I am proud to live in California and that we have been at the forefront of equal rights for same sex couples. Thankfully now people can come out and live their lives without fear (hopefully) of any reprocussions based on their sexuality. AMEN
Ok...now I will step down from my soap box ~~

Ok...I caved in, I admit I'm weak!!

So a couple of days ago I was at Costco, one of my favorito hangouts...and I love to peruse the book area. I love to take my time.....glance thru books...read a little here and there.....and before I knew it one was screaming at me... BUY ME...BUY ME....TAMMY, BUY ME!!!
And guess which book it was.....

Yep, the same book that I had written a post about.......Marcia Brady, whom I wanted to be most like as a young girl, the one with the perfect parents, perfect clothes, perfect hair...she got to date Davy Jones and Desi Arnaz Jr. Now she is airing her dirty laundry for all to see....and I was sucked up, enticed, entralled...needed to know the scoop and I couldn't help it!! I glanced thru the book and just couldn't put it down.
Ok, so if you wanna know...she was addicted to cocaine, would have sex for drugs (oh, Marcia) and she didn't have sex with Greg (thank goodness....I think that might have scarred me for life!)
So Marcia wasn't so perfect after all...how disappointing.
